Sygic Mobile Maps AustraliaFinally, a GPS navigation app for iPhone users. It has taken a year, and a whole version of iPhone OS since the 3G’s release but now us iPhone users can have a feature that it seems other phone users have had forever. Sygic’s offering comes in at $79.99 from the app store; appwise it’s expensive, but compared to a dedicated unit, a bargin. I personally have a TomTom ONE v3 and think it’s a great unit. Since getting this app that feels serously outdated. The interface of Mobile Maps is very sleek and feels like an included app. It has features like speed cameras and lane guidance too. All the normal navigation stuff is straight forward and very similar to a TomTom unit. The app happily runs in landscape too, detecting the orientation of the phone. My only gripe is the lane guidance is very very small and hence pretty useless. Also it doesn’t seem to alert you about cameras beyond an icon on the map. These are only minor because Sygic seem to be dedicated to updating minor things like this and this will likely be fixed in future updates. Excellent app, highly recommended :)
