Finally, a GPS navigation app for iPhone users. It has taken a year, and a whole version of iPhone OS since the 3G’s release but now us iPhone users can have a feature that it seems other phone users have had forever. Sygic’s offering comes in at $79.99 from the app store; appwise it’s expensive, but compared to a dedicated unit, a bargin. I personally have a TomTom ONE v3 and think it’s a great unit. Since getting this app that feels serously outdated. The interface of Mobile Maps is very sleek and feels like an included app. It has features like speed cameras and lane guidance too. All the normal navigation stuff is straight forward and very similar to a TomTom unit. The app happily runs in landscape too, detecting the orientation of the phone. My only gripe is the lane guidance is very very small and hence pretty useless. Also it doesn’t seem to alert you about cameras beyond an icon on the map. These are only minor because Sygic seem to be dedicated to updating minor things like this and this will likely be fixed in future updates. Excellent app, highly recommended
Recently realeased on Xbox Live Arcade was a new Battlefield. It is quite expensive at 1200 points and a hefty 600mb download. Is it worth it? Big YES! I was never that into Battlefield 1942 when it came out on PC and joined into the series quite late, only playing the last few games on Xbox and Xbox 360. The biggest thing about this game is that it feels like it should be a retail game; it is such a quality build. It stays true to the series’ multiplayer with the usual capturing flag points and defending the ones you hold. As the name suggests it’s based on WWII and weapons and vehicles match this theme well. I’m no expert, but it feels authentic in this respect. The title is multiplayer only, but this is the point of these games. I have spent alot of time playing already, and don’t think I’ll be getting sick of it anytime soon. Highly recommended for fans of the series!

Being a Guitar Hero fan I jumped at the release of a new game. The quality of Guitar Hero Metallica was great and I simply loved playing their songs on drums, especially considering how rare a Metallica song can be on music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I thought the quality of this game would have to at least be on par with this. How wrong was I! Surely playing reworked versions of the best songs from all the previous Guitar Hero games would be a blast, but it simply isn’t. The set list is good, but not great. I couldn’t even get into it enough to continue career, so I thought I’d venture into free play. Scrolling up and down the set list there is just nothing that jumps out that I HAD to play. The music ’score’ is also quite boring on the songs I played. I’m sure this game would be good in a party environment, but overall it feels just like a cash in. Very disappointed.
